Nothing says good morning like the perfect cup of coffee! I was browsing around one of my favorite coffee knowledge websites and came across this picture. Such a sight for sore and uncaffeinated eyes! I couldn’t help but share the wealth.
Now I know that everyone can’t produce the perfect espresso shot at home in the 3 extra minutes you’ve allotted yourself for caffeination, but if you want to brew a cup of coffee that doesn’t taste like it came from the sewer I may have a few suggestion. Illy coffee, while on the pricey side ($13 a can), is worth the creamy, smooth cup of sunshine that it produces.
If you live in Washington, then there’s another place you can get your morning fix. M.E. Swing Coffee Co. roasts their own beans, which is a big thumbs up in my opinion. They are located on the corners of 17th and G Street NW, AKA right next to The White House, so you can enjoy a pretty good view with your cup o’ joe. They also have a long history in this city, roasting since 1916 and providing fuel for the visiting diplomats. Much to my surprise (and slight dismay) they were featured on the food network this past September, so I may have to share my spot with a few other people.
In the end, I have no doubt that there is a Starbucks within a mile of where you live, and while many people like to jump on the “let’s hate Starbucks bandwagon”, there’s no denying they make a good cup of coffee. I prefer the Asia/Pacific region roasts of Sumatra and Sulawesi myself.

Update on my post: If you don’t live in Washington, you can order Swing Coffee on their website. I’ve sent boxes as gifts to coffee lovers, and they’ve been a big hit!
