Your Neighborhood Parisian Getaway

La Chat Noir

If I feel the urge to relive my study abroad days, a glass of wine and a crepe nutella from Le Chat Noir does the trick. The atmosphere is quaint, with a covered porch surrounded by white lights, and tables so close you feel as if you are dining with the person next to you. The service is typical “European” so don’t go if you’re in a rush. The other selections on the menu do not disappoint, but if you want to stay on the cheap side stick to the crepes, both savory and sweet.

Sometimes there’s nothing better than sipping a glass of Bordeaux and chatting with a friend.  Now you can do this on your back patio, but that involves dishes and cleaning, and who wants to deal with that.  Plus, your back patio may not feel like a quaint Parisian bistro. (If it does, do you mind company?)

They just put in a wine lounge and I have yet to check it out, but by the looks of things, if you live near Tenleytown/Friendship Heights/Upper Northwest, you may have a new neighborhood spot!

Side Note: A friend told me this is a favorite haunt of the French Embassy staff, but I have yet to confirm.

I always drive by that place, but I have never been inside. I will definitely check it out now. Thanks for the tip!
