Sofia Coppola, sparkling wine in a can

Yeah, the phrase WTF ran across my brain when I first laid eyes on the tiny pink cans from the Rubicon Estate Winery.  Sparkling wine in a can?!  The next phrase to hit me was, how perfect and compact!  If Napa can embrace screw caps, then I can give cans a try.

While the flavor of the SOFIA mini was a bit dry for my liking, I can’t ignore the perfect little package it’s presented in.  Talk about marketing genius.  For those of you that talk with your hands, your problems at parties and happy hours have been solved.  No more spilled drinks. Pool side beverages, bar-b-q’s, the sky’s the limit.

For $15 a pack you can give it as a fun present for your always fashionable friend, a thank you for a dinner party and I recieved it paired with a champagne flute as a Christmas present.

Now, I am aware that SOFIA mini came out around 2005 but somehow the marketing machine never reached my doorstep.  (So much for target audience)

While I can’t tout it as the best champagne/sparkling wine ever, it’s something fun and entertaining!  If you’re so inclined, give it a try.

Click here to read a Washington Post article on the mini.  Also, if you’re in DC then you can find SOFIA at the Metropolitian champagne bar and lounge in Adams Morgan, amongst other places.
