There’s something about that perfect scoop of ice cream. No matter your mood or surroundings, a good ice cream cone/scoop can make time stand still.
This past weekend I was lucky enough to be in the home state of one such ice cream maker, Graeter’s ice cream, headquartered in the great state of Ohio.
Graeter’s is a family run business that started back in 1870. They are now on their 4th generation of owners and have expanded their first store in Cincinnati to over 36 locations.
I’m willing to go out on a limb and claim Graeters as THE BEST non-homemade ice cream out there. Step aside Gifford’s (sorry DC folks), Ben & Jerry’s, Baskin Robbins, etc. It could be the French Pot process that Graeter’s uses that takes their quality to a whole new level. Each bite is bursting with flavor and the creaminess can’t be matched.
Naturally, I insisted Greater’s be a stopping point over the weekend and indulged on a cup of cinnamon ice cream (One of their seasonal flavors). I was saddened that pumpkin spice had yet to make its appearance for fall, but hope to get back before winter flavors take over. (My recommendation: get a scoop of cinnamon and a scoop of pumpkin spice and prepare to be transported to another dimension of ice cream heaven!) Other flavors that are out-of-this-world: peanut butter, black rasberry chip and mint chocolate chip, though nobody ever seems to be disappointed with the other selections.
For those of you fortunate enough to live within driving distance of one of their stores…I am extremely jealous. Folks a bit further away, no need to fret…Graeter’s ships right to your doorstep. So whether you are a Midwest transplant like myself, that 1% of people who live near a store and haven’t tried Graeter’s yet, or you’re simply looking to take your ice cream experience to another level, there are many options.
Stop depriving yourself and prepare to stand still for awhile.

Mmmmmm…delish! I can still almost taste the last spoonful of creamy heaven from last Friday night! I agree, Graeters is my top choice in ice cream, especially when it comes to peanut butter cup or any other flavored scoop you just enjoy with a cup and a spoon. No mix-ins required. I do have a friend that does the delivery option monthly, to keep their fridge stocked with Graeters for a weekend treat or special company.

Graeters is an awesome treat any time of the year. My favorite flavor is anything with the chocolate chip in it. Their chocolate chips are to die for. They are huge and delectable. If you haven’t had a Graeter’s ice cream cone, you haven’t lived!
