Casillero del Diablo-2006 Cabernet Sauvignon

Casillero del Diablo         Casillero del Diablo 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon-Chile

The two main things I look for when evaluating a wine are price and drinkability.  This may not be scientific, evaluating legs, tannins, and bouquet (Which I do take into account), but in the end its all about, “Do I enjoy sipping on this wine?”

While we’d all like to think we’re budding sommeliers, I’d bet that 95% of the wine drinking population asks themselves the very same thing.

During another one of my wine aisle wanderings I asked the “wine guy” at Tenley Liquors what his current favorite drinkable wine was.  (For under $15 of course)  He quickly pointed me to the Casillero del Diablo, a Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile.

Always one for a recommendation and adventure I snagged a bottle for $9.99.  ( I later found it at Whole Foods for $7.99.  Pet Peeve!)

Thoughts:  The first sip had a bite, but once the wine was allowed to breathe it had some wonderful fruit notes paired with a thicker than expected finish.  Not a bad bottle to have on hand and one that I will buy again.  Thank you Tenley wine guy!
