Temporary Time Out

September 2nd, 2008 · 1 Comment

Spork and Knife is going on an official time-out, but will be returning, full-speed the second week of October.

In the mean time, here’s a few tid bits of knowledge…

1) Pedro and Vinny’s burrito cart will be returning to the corner of 15th and K sometime soon.  DCist has the report.  Downtown lunch seekers can add an old favorite back into their weekly roatation!

2) Good Stuff Eatery.  My thoughts:  Fun experience and just what people need right now.  Wallets are a little thin for most, but the right to a little indulgence should never be ignored.  A better than average burger, with some well seasoned fries and killer dipping mayonnaise/sauces in a fun relaxed environment that plays Journey= just what the doctor ordered.  I’m a big fan of the turkey burger with a side of Spike’s village fries and a cup of the old bay dipping sauce.

3) If you’re looking to cook up an Italian storm and need a little mood music, the cd that comes with the Italian Intermezzo cookbook is one of the best mixes I’ve found to date.  The set is a great gift for your favorite cook and I guarantee it will have you dreaming of the canals in Venice and the trattorias of Rome in no time!

4) What I’m drinking right now: 2006 Hope Chardonnay.  Talk about a value! I had this wine at a 5 course tasting dinner/cooking class at A Chef’s Kitchen and was blown away.  I’m generally not a white wine drink, but in the hot days of summer I usually convert.  At $10 a bottle this is a must have.

See you all in October!
